Week 61: Meeting with the Apostles - April 13, 2019

From Mom: I want to share the little miracle that happened for us regarding video chatting with Elder Wright this week. Kraig and I were in Flagstaff to see Mandy perform with the high school Arizona All State Honor Choir. I hadn't had a chance to let Elder Wright know ahead of time that we would be out of town, and possibly at her concert, when he would be calling. I just prayed that it would all work out. I wasn't too worried that he would contact us during the concert because he usually messages us earlier in the day. But as time went by the battery on my phone was dying, I didn't have an extra battery pack, and the concert was going to start in an hour. Kraig and I were wandering around the NAU campus killing time before the concert. We went to the bookstore and I saw a table in the corner with a charging station. So yay! I could charge my phone! I was sitting there for just a few minutes when I got the message that Elder Wright was ready to chat. I called Kraig over and the three of us were able to converse for about 30 minutes, in the corner of the NAU bookstore, with my phone plugged in, on NAU wifi! Thinking back, I realize that while both of my children have been serving missions we've had multiple times that everything has fallen in line and we were able to converse with them, first by email and now video, no matter where we've been. That includes traveling around the country and even once on a cruise ship. God is truly in the details of our lives!

Hello! Hope you all had an amazing week, because I sure did! Anyways, General Conference was great! I got plenty of answers to questions that I've been having for a little while, so I really enjoyed it. As for what this email is titled after, yes, we did have Elder Anderson here at the mission, but that's not all! Elder Soares decided to come along, so we got visited by TWO apostles! It was really cool to have two members of the Quorum of the Twelve visit our mission, and from what I heard, they were really impressed. I don't know what this will mean for this mission in the future, but for now I'm happy to be able to meet some of the Lord's servant. Other than that, things are pretty much the same here. It's been rainy for the past couple of days, but now things are starting to look sunny again! I hope that it stays like that, but I'll be fine with whatever. Anyways, have an awesome week and remember to continue learning from Conference, since it's the Lord's latest teaching for us!!
Till then,
Elder Wright

A few other things from our conversation with Elder Wright:
*He only has 24 Tuesdays left of his mission! If you're wondering why count Tuesdays, it's because in his mission Tuesdays are transfer days and also the day that Elders who have completed this mission go home.
*We told him we were disappointed that we didn't get to see President Nelson wave to the young Elders from the SLC Headquarters mission at the end of the Priesthood session because the cameramen stopped the video. He told us that not only President Nelson, but also Presidents Oaks and Eyring as well as almost all of the Apostles stopped to wave to them.
*If you're wondering what is meant by "Quorum of the Twelve", you can visit https://www.lds.org/church/leaders/quorum-of-the-twelve-apostles?lang=eng
*And these are the pictures he sent home this week. He must really like these trees!
