Mission Recommendation

During all of this time while Nick was working so hard as a missionary in Arizona, we were also waiting to see if he would be transferred to the Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission. We were so excited to read the Pugmire's recommendation!

Third Email - January 7, 2018

Hello again, this is Elder Wright. So I'm still working at the same places and still enjoying it. I would like to bring up one thing that I really enjoyed doing. Last week, I was able to do tell one of our clients at Save the Family about how the Book of Mormon was another testament of Christ. It was kind of fun to do some proselyting, though I will admit I was a bit nervous doing so. In all I am really enjoying my mission.

Christmas 2017

It's a blessing to be a missionary mom and be lucky enough to have your missionary home with you. Priscilla was gone the past 2 years for her mission, so this was a real treat!

Priscilla took some wonderful missionary pictures of Nick while she was home too.

Nick also had another awesome mission conference. I love the way these leaders work to make this mission as much like a traditional mission as possible, including conferences, companions, district meetings, etc.

Second Email - December 3, 2017

We encouraged Nick to find something that he enjoyed to talk about in his email. This one was slightly longer.

Hello again, this is Elder Wright. So I'm still working at the same places and still enjoying it. I would like to bring up one thing that I really enjoyed doing. On the week of thanksgiving, I was able to help deliver packages of of food to the people that we are helping at Save the Family. We collected donations and then delivered them to the people. Even after the deliveries, we got way more donations, so many that we were running out of room for where to put them. In all I was really happy to help out.

Wednesday: Chandler Records Operations Center 8am to Noon

Friday: Save The Family 8am to Noon

Saturday: District Meeting at 8am

I always get new Christmas ornaments for my kids each year. I try to find something that represents what they're doing. Nick was so excited to hang this ornament on our tree!

First Email - November 12, 2017

Nick was required to email his mission leaders as well as our Bishop and Stake President once a month. This is far more difficult when you live at home and there isn't as much different in your life as before your mission, compared to missionaries that serve away from home! But, Nick was obedient. Here's his first email.

Hey, this is Elder Wright, just updating you on my mission. So, currently mission consists of Save the Family and the Chandler ROC. I have been enjoying it a ton and I'm glad that I'm able to serve here. I can't think of much else to say, so if/when you email back, let me know what to inform you about.

Mission Orientation and Save The Family

We had a wonderful time at Nick's mission orientation at the Packard's home on October 22nd. This mission focuses not only on the service that the missionaries can do for others, but also on the growth that the missionaries can have themselves through learning life skills. Love these missionaries and leaders!

On October 30, Nick started serving at Save the Family. They were so good to him. During his time there he did some amazing things. He got to participate in food and gift drives for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was responsible for sorting through Christmas "Wish Lists" and finding what the organization could provide for the clients with the money given from their sponsors. He contacted local dentists to ask about low cost dental care for the clients. And he also contacted charter schools to ask about buses for the children to go to school.  Nick was also able to go to their Christmas party at Golfland. They gave gifts to each of their volunteers, and Nick received a $50 American Express Gift Card. One of the volunteer coordinators also gave him a lottery ticket for Christmas! We all had a good laugh about that! He ended up giving the lottery ticket to another volunteer. 

Another exciting thing that happened for Nick was signing our family Missionary door. We started the tradition in July after Priscilla left for her mission. Every missionary that comes to our home gets to sign our door. Priscilla didn't get to because she didn't serve here, but Nick was definitely serving!
